I was born and raised in England, studied in Scotland, lived and worked in Central and South America before settling down in North Carolina with my husband and two children.

I am trustworthy, compassionate and skilled in what I do, helping bring healing where there is brokenness. Being empathetic and genuinely interested in people means that I tend to connect with those I work with quickly. People describe feeling understood and safe with me.

I earned my Masters of Christian Counseling at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC. Internships provided me with a variety of experiences working with individuals, families, groups and couples. I provided therapy in a crisis center, university setting, intensive out patient (for substance abuse and dual diagnosis) and private practice.

Early on in my training one of the couples I was working with had a significant emotionally reparative moment. Witnessing this new connection solidified my desire to work effectively with couples in distress. I have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and am a Certified EFT Therapist. If you would like to learn more about EFT and its approach, visit: www.iceeft.com.

I am a Christian and hold deeply to my faith. That being said, I have enjoyed and welcome those who do not share the same beliefs as me. I take your lead. By your invitation I can incorporate faith and spiritual reflections on what you are sharing, patterns we are discovering and steps that you are choosing to take.

In 2018 I took a courageous step to begin R4 Counseling and Consulting, PLLC having been in a group practice for many years. I have a warm, welcoming spirit and have been known to shed a tear and laugh with those I work with. I hope that I have the opportunity to come alongside you on your journey.

I am a member of the following professional organizations:

  • ICEEFT - International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

  • AAMFT - American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy

  • NCAMFT - North Carolina Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

When I am not in the office, you can often find me spending time with my family and friends, "pottering around" in my garden or creating culinary delights. Embracing moments of quiet, I often recharge with a pot of tea, a journal and a book. When given the opportunity I enjoy an adventure (cue the Indiana Jones music). In 2017 I had the honor of introducing and teaching EFT to 130 Egyptian counselors in Cairo, Egypt. I also speak at and facilitate women's retreats and events.
